Macam-macam kahwin

Assalamualaikum! This post will mainly be my rant about my preparations for my wedding. If you are not mentally equipped, please DO NOT proceed.

Perihal kahwin. Biasa lah adat orang Melayu, kalau kahwin bukan anak-anak saja yang kahwin. Satu family pun kahwin jugak. Haish. Masalahnya bila ramai-ramai dah terlibat ni, memang susah sikit nak plan. Tapi mungkin orang lain ok ja, mungkin hanya family aku yang lain sikit. Mungkin jugak sebab aku anak sulung, jadi banyak benda parents aku nak buat bagi perfect. Pening.

Al-kisah, mula2 dulu konflik pasal venue majlis kahwin. Aku nak buat di dewan, senang sikit, nanti lepas kenduri balik rumah terus rehat. Lagipun aku memang tak suka orang tak dikenali masuk rumah aku. Sangat-sangat pantang tau. Nak masuk my room? Sorry naik lori lah. Sapa-sapa saja boleh masuk bilik aku tu, sebab of course bilik pengantin tu bilik aku. Abah dah setuju kat dewan, mak aku pulak menentang keras-keras. Katanya, kat dewan family nak rehat tak ada tempat. Tak selesa. Padahal ada bilik rehat dalam dewan tu. Abah cakap, mak aku tradisional sikit. Jadi dia tak suka buat kat dewan. Lepas berdrama air mata bagai, aku pun last2 terpaksa setuju buat kat rumah. Tapi aku taknak buat bilik pengantin, aku cakap.

Last2 aku suruh butik buatkan bilik pengantin terus. Sebabnya, walaupun aku taknak, parents aku nak jugak-jugak. Daripada risk diorang buat, aku rasa baik suruh mak andam je buat. Takyah pikir dah. Jadi sekarang ni, tiap2 hujung minggu parents aku akan heret aku pergi kedai perabot  untuk survey perabot. I'm not gonna lie, at one point, semua perabot pun nampak sama ja bagi aku.

Aku rasa banyak masa lagi. Boleh rileks2 dulu. Aku nak pakai perabotsedia ada, diorang taknak. Nak beli perabot baru jugak. Kalau nak beli yang baru, aku nak pilih. Sebab takmau perabot yang sama ja nanti. Semua perabot jati dalam rumah ni. Boring lah.

Sekarang aku cuma nervous sebab abah aku dah nak cat bilik pengantin. Cat belum beli. Mungkin esok pagi dia beli, pastu terus cat. Don't get me wrong. Aku bersyukur sangat sebab abah aku volunteer nak cat bilik, jadi aku sendiri tak payah bersusah-payah. Tapi, dia suka beli cat colour terang2. Rumah aku semua kaler terang. Aku dah tengok katalog, dah pilih warna yang pudar dah. Aku takut dia tukar fikiran last minit ja. Nanti kalau dia dah cat bilik time aku kerja, haaa, tak ka naya ja. Berserah la. Mak aku pulak, semua benda perlu ikut dia. Dia siap cakap takyah hantaran2 dah sebab masa tunang dah buat. Oh mana boleh. Aku nak hantaran. Syafiq pun nak jugak. Aku cakap aku ngan Syafiq dah beli hantaran pun. Kami buat sendiri tak payah kalut.

Jujur aku cakap, kepala hotak aku memang tengah stress fikir bab kahwin & bab kerja. Tahun ni sebab pengetua baru, kerja aku macam bertambah-tambah ja. Tapi risau jugak nanti kalau tukar sekolah baru, lagi banyak jawatan aku kena pegang, lagi banyak kerja, tak ke naya?

p/s: Videographer majlis masih belum jumpa. Hari tu kata okay, tapi sekarang macam tak tahu pulak. Kalau tak boleh cakap awal2 dik. Boleh akak cari OV lain. Senang dua-dua pihak.

Giftbags

Pejam celik pejam celik, dah masuk bulan November. Alhamdulillah, persiapan dah banyak yang settle. Hari ni nak share idea giftbags sikit. Saya beli paper bag warna silver, embossed dengan bunga dan tulisan 'Thank you'. Atasnya lekat doily paper saiz 5.5". Dekat bahagian atas tu, saya buat riben kecik2 warna merah kemudian lekatkan. Nanti saya cuma perlu gamkan kat atas setiap beg saja. Isn't he thoughtful? :)

Kat dalam beg pulak, dulu pening jugak nak letak apa. Last2 saya decide, letak benda makan lah. Senang. ;)

Kelebihan bulan Sya'ban

Mari cuba. Lepas cuba baru tau. =)

Peanut butter and chocolate cupcakes

Today I went to Perlis to visit Baby Aushaf Iman and mommy Choc Jamaludin. Then as usual the four little pigs (Aiman, Mamat, Miza and sadly, myself included) went off to Jetty Kuala Perlis to fill our hearty appetite with spicy tomyum and delicious ikan bakar! Yummy! I made some peanut butter with chocolate topping and chocolate chips cupcakes for Choc and hubby, and some peanut butter cupcakes with colourful sprinkles to celebrate Mamat's birthday. It was a good day indeed. ;)

Rainbow apam

Assalamualaikum lovelies~

I made these for breakfast today. Rainbow apam! Made extra just in case I decided to visit Choc and her little prince later today, which I actually might.

I swear, if you put a lot of colour in it, they wont perk up as much. Just look at the bright ones. Hence I tried the soft-coloured ones. They turned out really well, Alhamdulillah. Live and learn, they say.

House Rules. A book by Jodi Picoult.

I love reading. It just occurred to me I haven't done much reading since I started working. Reading novels, that is. I read scripts and essays practically everyday but that is NOT for leisure (it has the opposite effect, actually, since those essays often give me a mysterious headache after reading around 20 of them).

I used to love The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella. About the same time, I fell in Love with the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. Do you know that J. K. Rowling purposely initials her name as if it were a man's just so that the book will become more known? Because male writers are often more known and celebrated in the United Kingdom. Whatever it is, those series educated and fascinates me when I was growing up, in my school years. But surprisingly, I have ALL seven of the Harry Potter books, but I don't even own any of the Shopaholic series. Hurmmm....

After I graduated from high school, I entered my university years. By this time I've outgrown Sophie Kinsella and J. K. Rowling, but I fell head over heels with Julie Garwood. She often writes about barbarians or barbaric men who are tough and rough, falling in love with beautiful, soft-spoken, fragile ladies. I owned a lot of her books, in which I read as often as I can. Also, I read and own a lot of Cecelia Ahern's and Nicholas Spark's. Notice the theme there? Yes, ROMANCE.

Then I went to New Zealand, and I came back. I started looking for a new writer that could blow my mind off. When I was in Popular Bookstore with Zombee, I saw a book titled 'House Rules'. Not interesting at all. But something drew me to pick up the book and read the synopsis behind the cover. The story is not about love, fantasy or how a girl struggles to support her impulsive shopping amidst her mounting credit card bills. It's about a mother and her child. And I put the book back down on the shelf.

Days after, I went to a bookstore again. I picked up the same book, House Rules. The writer is Jodi Picoult. Not familiar at all, at least to me. And I put it back down again. This happens for more than 20 times over two weeks, I think.

And then one day, I came back from window shopping with Zombee, I realized that there was something else in the paper bag I was carrying. I didn't realize this earlier because, being a considerate gentleman that he is, Zombee was holding the bags for me. I was pleasantly surprised finding what was inside. Can you guess?

I was so happy and flabbergasted! I hate it when he does that! Buying or getting me things I really-really want! Oh wait who am I kidding? I love it when he does that! Thank you Zombee. He afterwards told me that he felt annoyed pitiful watching me picking up the book every time we enter a bookstore, but not buying it (because I did not have any money then. I was a poor, poor student).

One might say "It's just a book. Anyone can buy it. Duh." Well, MY book has this inside. And it is what makes it special, one of its kind. What makes me treasure it most.

To readers who are looking for a new breath of air, you can try Jodi Picoult. She often writes about mothers or family matters. But if you are looking for romance, you are barking up the wrong tree. Picoult deals with more matures issues in life, such as parental love, forgiveness and accepting imperfection in the people that we love. Her way of writing is so fresh and personal. I've learnt a lot reading her supposedly fictional novels. For examples, now I know a lot about Asperger Syndrom. Well, if you are not familiar with some of her writings, maybe you have watched the movie 'My Sister's Keeper'? Major TEARFEST for me. So does all of her books.

New Zealand, I miss thee.

Halloween closed party 2008. Venue: Unilodge, Symond St., Auckland, New Zealand.

Costumes. Laughter. Fun. Food. Good company. Memories.

p/s: The graveyard cake on the right side was my creation. Double whammy chocolate cake. I used crushed oreo for the dirt effect. The tombstone was tim tam biscuit. Yum! Used a (white) chocolate tube for writing RIP on the biscuit. The skeleton and tarantula was non-edible, but that didn't stop some people from trying to eat them!

p/ss: Which character was I? Take a guess. ;)
